The wise rulers of Venice realised they would need a guaranteed supply of timber to construct their unique city, and they set up strict laws regulating the forests that cover the extensive, mid-altitude Cansiglio district.

Today this area is under the control of the State Forestry Commission, which continues to ensure it remains a haven for trees, wildlife like roe deer. As a result, it has become a walker's paradise.

It is only a short drive from Il Faé, and we can arrange a guided tour through rich pastures, to then explore the forest with a picnic lunch included.

These trips require you to take a day-pack and non-slip, basic hiking boots with ankle support are essential, as are rainproof clothing (just in case), sun protection and a water bottle.
